At PNA, we believe everyone is affected by the continued existence of nuclear weapons, but future generations are most severely at risk, unless we act now to deal with the problem. We are working with our allies and focusing our attention on the Millennial Generation - people under 30- which is quickly becoming a most significant and powerful category of citizens in the United States. We believe that any significant social and political change will be initiated with the consent and involvement of this group.
The Ban All Nukes Generation- USA Network aims to educate and empower college students and young adults, aged 18-30, to support public awareness of, and action on, nuclear weapons policy. There are three main goals: recruitment and organization; education; and empowerment towards action. Empowering young people to do this work will reap tremendous benefits for U.S. society, not only for the sake of the nuclear issue, but also in showing young Americans how to organize themselves to bring about progress in the democratic process as a whole.
The work of Ban All Nukes Generation will lead to a major International Youth Dialogue in October 2009. We're accomplishing all this through videoconferences, dramatizations, and events like film screenings and concerts. Our successful Peace Concerts, at World Cafe Live in Philly featured several great live bands and brought many new people to PNA. Our Chairman, Dr. Craig Eisendrath, as well as our Executive Director, Ed Aguilar, and PNA Student Assistants, regularly appear on college and high school local campuses. We also lead quarterly delegations of students to meet with their Congressional representatives. Check out the GEM video-conferencing option for your campus, or call Ban All Nukes at 215-546-3030.
